In 2019, Wouter Gheyle, archaeologist from the Ghent University, and his team discovered a unique series of aerial photographs of the province of Limburg in the American National Archives (NARA). These were photos taken by the Germans and the Americans between 1944 and 1945. These photos give a unique picture of Limburg at the time. They clearly show the great changes that the historical landscape has experienced.
Limburg has so many locations that hide secrets from WWII to this day. To discover these, the provincial government launched the digital platform “Onder de radar”. Visitors can browse online through photos on a map and discover all the stories.
Creating a video to support the launch of the digital platform “Onder de radar”.
Based on historical footage, we made a trailer that tells the story in a cinematic way and encourages people to browse through all the photos and stories on the platform.
